Tag
Tags are key-value labels in meshStack that add business context to enable reporting, and support automation by attaching metadata to cloud resources. Use tags for cost allocation, compliance, ownership tracking, and policy enforcement.
Tags are visible throughout meshStack and can be referenced in policies for automated governance. Tags can only be configured in the admin area.

Tag Length
Tag values can be up to 255 characters. Ensure your tags configured as replicated meet the requirements of each platform.
Tag Propagation to Platform
meshStack automatically provides tags and metadata to platforms and resources when configured for replication. meshStack automatically derives metadata tags for tenants based on the metadata tags set on the project, the payment method configured on the project, and the workspace it belongs to. These tags are sent to platforms via landing zones and platform configuration. meshStack ensures tags meet each platform’s requirements (AWS, Azure, GCP) for length and allowed characters through tag sanitation.
We advise you to choose tag names that work for all platforms you use. This way, you can ensure that the tags are consistently applied and avoid confusion.
